Michelle Cole has been studying the Kriya Yoga tradition of Paramahansa
Yogananda and Babaji Nagaraj which is a scientific art of God, Truth
union and Self-Realization for over 20 years. After going to India in
the early 90’s, she decided to dive into her spirituality more intensely
being mentored by Sri Guruji (Guru-who gave Wayne Dyer the Aah
mediation). Michelle then continued on with Marshall Govindan, world
renown teacher and author of many books on Kriya Yoga and the Yoga
Sutras. She then traveled to Peru (Machu Picchu/Amazon) and was guided
by several Shaman. She worked directly with Stephen Lewis, who wrote
"Sanctuary: Path of Consciousness," and also studied with Reverend
Michael Beckwith from Agape, who wrote "The Secret."
AAfter several years she became a certified yoga instructor at the Babaji Nagaraj Ashram in Montreal and member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Michelle continued her education at Loyola Marymount for yoga therapy and is a certified yoga therapist. Yoga therapy specializes in the integration of classical therapeutics with modern advancements in biomechanical technology. She has been personally mentored by some of the top musculoskeletal therapists in the United States, including the founder of the International Association for Yoga Therapists, Larry Payne, PhD, and Sherry Brourman, author of “Walk Yourself Well” and designer for Sketchers on the “Shape Up” shoes that improves posture and muscle tone by just walking.
HHer specialty in “Chair Yoga” & PTSD came about when her quadriplegic friend had a desire to do yoga. She created a program specialized for people in wheel chairs, elderly, and/or others who had physical and phycological problems/injuries that challenged their ability to get onto the floor on a yoga mat. Her focus is teaching the connection between Mind, Body, and Breath. Having the body and mind surrender to the breath, allowing for soft tissue injuries to heal, muscles to release, minds to quiet, emotions to release, and deepen physical openings.
Michelle teaches beginners and up to advanced yoga, implementing therapeutic cues to help access awareness of movement, strength, agility and balance; which when combined, create fluidity, stress reduction, with increased oxygen and energy flow through the body. Whether you have back, neck, knee, hip or shoulder pain, you will find a healing direction within your yoga practice under Michelle's expertise and guidance.
As a lifetime student and after over 20 years of disciplined practice in “Kriya Yoga”, Michelle has also embraced the lighter side of yoga and life, getting certified in Laughter Yoga”. Her motto, “Life is serious enough we need to lighten our hearts and laugh a little more”
